Job Position
Cape Breton Island Tourism Training Network (CBITTN) at Cape Breton University is seeking a part-time Summer Research Assistant for the 2023 season to collect survey information from visitors at tourism destinations across Cape Breton Island.
Position Summary: Research Student - Surveying Visitors
Project Duration & Pay: 6 weeks I 20 hours per week I $21.50 per hour

We are looking for a research student with a passion for Tourism and an interest in economic development on Cape Breton Island to survey visitors to better understand the impact of tourism-related challenges on the visitor experience.
Duties & Responsibilities

Travel to assigned popular tourism destinations on Cape Breton Island.

Engage visitors in conversation and conduct a brief two-minute survey.

Respond promptly and professionally to stakeholder or visitor inquiries.

Motor travel is required as will flexible hours. Mileage will be reimbursed.

The student may work in collaboration with project team members of the CBITTN.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Reports directly to the CBITTN Industry Liaison.
Successful Candidate Qualifications

Enrolled in a Post-graduate degree at CBU.

Experience within the post-secondary work environment is considered an asset.

Demonstrated discretion and sound judgement in the handling of confidential information.

Ability to adapt to new technology and to learn and work independently.

Highly motivated, focused and results-oriented with the ability to meet expectations in a dynamic and customer-centric work environment.

The ability to work well with others, both internally and externally, from a wide range of backgrounds.

Strong written, interpersonal, and public communication skills.
